N'est prise en compte comme détention que celle destinée à réprimer une activité de résistance ou une volonté de nuire à l'occupant. Ne sont donc pas reprises ici les incarcérations comme prisonnier de guerre, suite à des infractions de droit commun non liées à la résistance, ou les déportations liées au travail obligatoire en Allemagne.

Pour les personnes déportées, il arrive que la date de fin de détention corresponde à la date de rapatriement. Pour cette raison, si la date mentionnée était postérieure au 8 mai, nous avons simplement indiqué l'année 1945 comme date de fin.
